James Oates

James M. Oates currently serves as Chairman of Emerson’s Board of Directors. In addition, Jim serves as a Director on the following corporate boards: Hudson Castle Group (Chairman), Virtus Funds, Connecticut River Bancorp, New Hampshire Trust Company, Stifel Financial Corporation, and John Hancock Trust and John Hancock Funds II (Chairman). As President and CEO of Neworld Bancorp, he successfully converted the bank from a mutual to commercial bank and oversaw the acquisition by a major New England bank.

Prior to Neworld Bancorp, Jim was a senior executive at financial institutions in Boston and St. Louis. In addition to his experience on financial boards, Jim is an Emeritus Trustee of Middlesex School. After graduation from Harvard College and Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Jim served in the Peace Corps in Kathmandu, Nepal. He resides in Brookline, MA, Elkins, NH and Casey Key, FL.

 

David Corcoran

David J. Corcoran has actively served as an Emerson Board member since 2000. David’s professional experiences involve pioneering software development and corporate strategy in the New England area. He is currently Co-founder and President of a private software start-up company.

David was previously Executive Vice President of Research & Development and Strategy at SolidWorks, a leading developer of mechanical computer aided design systems. Prior to SolidWorks, now owned by Dassault Systems, David held positions in Cadre Technologies and Computervision. He is a graduate of Brown University. David lives in Lexington, MA.

 

J. Nicholas Hurd

J. Nicholas “Nick” Hurd has served as a member of Emerson’s Board since 2003. Nick is a retired Managing Director of Russell Reynolds Associates, a highly regarded worldwide Executive Search and Executive Assessment firm. Nick ran their Boston office for more than ten years as well as holding other leadership roles during his twenty-two year tenure with the firm. These included Practice leader for its Asset and Wealth Management recruiting activities in the Americas and he also was on the firm’s Pension Committee for many years. Before joining Russell Reynolds, Nick was a commercial banker in New York City and New England for twenty years.

Throughout his career he has been a member of numerous corporate and not-for-profit boards including an overseer of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Partners Healthcare and The Huntington Theatre Company in Boston. He continues to be involved in a number of not-for-profit organizations, including the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and provides consultancy to a variety of corporate Boards. Nick is a graduate of Hobart College and Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. He resides in Vero Beach, Florida and Southport, Maine.

 

William M. Weldon

William M. Weldon retired as Managing Director at Emerson in September 2009, where he also held the role of Chief Compliance Officer and participated as an active member of the Executive Committee and Investment Strategy Committee. In these roles he was responsible for managing client portfolios and maintaining Emerson’s status as an SEC compliant Registered Investment Advisor.

Prior to his position Emerson, Bill was a Managing Director at Delta Financial Management Corporation from 1986 until its merger with Emerson in 2004. Additionally, he served as Senior Investment Consultant with W.M. Mercer-Meidinger, Inc. and A.G. Becker & Company. Bill is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society. Bill is a graduate of Stonehill College and the University of Notre Dame. He resides in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
